Clear Braces

Are you unhappy with your smile? Would small changes in the alignment of your teeth make a big difference to you?

Here at Lindley Dental we offer adult orthodontics which can help you to improve the appearance of your smile.

SureSmile Clear Aligners

SureSmile which uses clear custom-made aligners these are similar in appearance to a clear gum shield and are very discreet. There are no brackets or wires like traditional braces. You may be aware of a similar system called Invisalign.

Your smile journey begins with a consultation at this visit a digital scan is taken. These digital images, when uploaded to our SureSmile software, allow your Dental Professional to assess how clear aligners will best work for you, creating your unique treatment plan SureSmile aligners are designed using advanced software to ensure they fit comfortably, promote better oral hygiene and deliver the exact tooth movements needed.

How does it work?

Wearing the aligners puts gentle pressure on the teeth, repositioning them over time.

Once your aligners arrive, we will check they fit snugly and then the rest is up to you! SureSmile requires much fewer check-in appointments than traditional, fixed braces, although we will need to see you now and again to check that everything is going as planned.

Each set of aligners needs to be worn for at least 22 hours per day, and you will change them every two weeks – as you do so, your teeth will gradually move to the desired position, as outlined in your treatment plan.

What are the benefits?

Many patients find traditional metal braces uncomfortable and unsightly -alternatively, SureSmile aligners are almost invisible, making for a completely discreet experience; no one needs to know you’re having treatment!

They are removable, making eating, drinking and cleaning your teeth far more convenient and stress-free. You can even take them out for meetings or socialising, as long as you remember to put them right back in afterwards!

The good news is that we can help you.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take?

The time it takes to straighten your smile depends on the severity of your misalignment; in some cases, patients see results in as little as six months, although more severe cases can take longer. On average from start to finish treatment should take between 6-9 months.

How do I keep my teeth straight?

Once the teeth are straight, your dentist will give you a retainer, either fixed or removable one. The fixed is a metal wire glued onto the back of the front six teeth. The removable is a clear plastic retainer that covers all your teeth and keeps them locked in place. Using retainers is very important to maintain the result.

What other treatments do you offer after straightening?

After straightening some patients opt to whiten their teeth using our professional home whitening treatment. Take-home whitening kits contain tailor-made dental trays and bleaching gels that you will wear during the day or whilst you sleep, over one to two weeks, depending on your chosen treatment. You may also have the shape of your teeth altered slightly using composite bonding to achieve a more uniform appearance. Bonding uses a tooth-coloured composite resin material to smooth over cracks, chips and discolouration – it can also close gaps and correct the shape of uneven teeth. The composite material is putty-like, making it easy to mould and sculpt in any way necessary.
